Downloading Visual Studio 2010 Software

1. You should use Internet Explorer use these instructions.   Go to www.dreamspark.com .  Click on the Visual Studio 2010.

2.  You need to sign in by using an existing or creating a new hotmail account: www.hotmail.com .  This will give you a Windows Live ID and password.  That's what you use to sign in (first button) below.

3.  Click the get verified button:  You want to get verified as a Student and then get verified by your school, then click continue.  You will see to Trident Technical Colleges on the list of SC colleges.  Just pick the first one.

4.  Fill in the correct information.  IMPORTANT!!!!  Be exact in typing in your my.tridenttech.edu email address.  You must use this email address to verify you are a Trident Tech student.  I highly recommend that you log into your my.tridenttech.edu email account and copy and paste your email into this block.  If you just try typing it, you can make an error and then your product key will not go to your email address.  Take your time and do it right.

5.  After you press the pink Verify> button you wil be taken to this page.  You need to log into your my.tridenttech.edu email account and get the product key to your software before you can download it.

6.    Below is how the email will look when you receive it.  You must use the access key to activate and download your software.

WARNING!!!  Do not go past this step unless you have a blank CD (a couple will be better) and a computer that can
burn CD's.  You can NOT do this in the computer lab at TTC since the CD drives there will not allow you to burn a CD.
You must do this at home or a friend or neighbor's house.

7.  Once you click the Activate link it brings you back to dreamspark where you need to click the pink "Download" button

8.  You may get this if you are using IE.  Click the down arrow next to "Options for this site" and select to always allow dreamspark access/

9.  You will next get this message....be patient!

10. Next you will get this box, press the install button.

11.  Next you will get this box, again, press install (if you are using chrome or fire fox these boxes may look different or not pop up.

Notice:  You'll see the instructions reference Expression Studio.  The same instructions work with Visual Studio. I just didn't change out these pictures since everything else is the same. Just use visual studio rather than expresson studio when following these instructions.

12.  An ISO file will be downloaded.  This is a compressed image of a cd.  You must burn the
uncompressed data to a cd.  That cd that you burn with the image is what you use to load the
program to your computer.  Just like you would if you purchased the CD from Walmart.  You
can not do anything with the .iso file except uncompress it and burn it to a cd.  Copying it to a
CD will not do anything because it will still be compress.

13.  I recommend that you change the "save in:" box to your desktop and then press the
new folder button and call the new folder 'visual studio download".  I recommend
this so you can find that file again when you are done.  You don't have to do this
though.

14.  Once you press save it will start the download manager.  Progress will start on 0 and move towards 100.  Do Nothing.

15.  When it is done, place a blank CD in the CD/DVD tray and press the "Launch" button.

16.  The CD Recording Wizard is what will launch.  Leave everything the way it is, make sure the "Recorder"
area shows that you are using a Blank Writable Usable CD, then hit next.

17.  It will go through a couple of different processes, just leave it alone until your cd pops out.  That means
it's done cooking and you now have a copy of Expression Web Studio 4 on the cd.  You can load the software
by simply pushing the cd back in.  Your computer should be set to run the auto-run file on the cd and start the load
process.
